Life Decisions...

So a couple sundays ago I was sitting in relief society (a meeting for the ladies at our church) and heard about a fireside that was going to be that night. At first for some reason, my initial reaction was a little crusty. I hadn't slept at all that week because of finals and really just wanted a good nap BUT my friend Tayler and I soon decided any fireside titled "LIFE DECIONS" was definitely not one to miss.

The fireside was given by Dr. Keith Karren who was honestly one of the best speakers I have ever been to before. He had a way of really connecting with us and making us feel we can make changes to be happier and closer to our Heavenly Father. I know I especially struggle with making ANY kind of big decision so this truly was a fireside for me! Here are some highlights from the night:
Life Questions-
  • Who Am I?
  • For what was I born? I have a mission on this earth...
The tender Jimmy Stewart once said, "If we don't TRY then we don't DO, and if we don't DO then what are we DOING here?" Really ponder that...
  • Why Am I Here?
We must recognize the Father in our lives and that our Savior lives. Recognize the miracles in our lives. How many people have been placed in our lives as "miracles" and how many times have we been that "miracle"?
  • Are we a living example of "good health"?
Emotions and health are linked together.... eat well, exercise, sleep, meditate, have FUN! What makes you happy?
  • Are we seeking WISDOM continually?
  • Forgive and let live...
We must let go of hard emotions....they truly destroy us. Forgive and love everyone in your life for you never know when it will be taken away.
  • Do we have a sense of HUMOR?
LAUGH in life...it is what makes life enjoyable!
  • Are we continually seeking spirituality through PRAYER and SERVICE?
Prayer can truly heal us if we let it touch our lives. We must access its power. Giving up ourselves to help others is another way to find happiness and grow closer to Heavenly Father.
  • Are we constantly seeking to become LIFELONG learners and teachers?
We must seek for correction in our lives...we must make commitments with ourselves and others and follow through with them.
  • Have you found someone to share your heart with?
  • Are you giving to the community?
  • Are you at peace with YOURSELF?
  • Are you trying to be as HUMAN as you can be?
Live life!! Do things that make you stretch and grow more then you ever imagined! It is through experiences like this that we truly find ourselves and become better. We must live our lives to the fullest and never be afraid of failure because it will always happen. Accept it and do better next time!

This truly was such an amazing night! I learned so many ways to improve my life and come closer to the spirit to make decisions. We all can make big decisions if we are doing everything in our lives to be close to the spirit. Everything will work out how they are supposed to if we do our part : ) Happy Wednesday!

one. two. cha cha cha...

So all my life I've had this secret dream of being a dancer. I have taken classes from hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap, clogging, turns, and musical theatre. I have pretty much tried it all. But one day I saw a recording of myself in a performance and said hmmm lets find another hobby. Or maybe it was once my teacher made me and my best friend be the guys in a dance...I just knew then and there that dancing wasn't going to be my forte. Lets just say for all you Saturdays Warriors fans out there, I felt a lot like Pam at this moment. But hey its ok I found myself in other areas down the road and moved on ha. But of course I still like to dance every once and while!

So last week my friends and I finally gave in to going salsa dancing at the Salsa Chocolate on Center street. My friend Tyler has been bugging me for months to go so we finally made it happen. I had been country dancing before, but didn't know quite what to expect at salsa night. Oh man let me tell ya, if you ever want to feel like you're in south america. This is the PLACE to go. I danced the night away with 3 pedros, 6 carlos, and 4 angelos (everyone just happened to have those three names).  Learned some sweet moves and basically had the night of my life! It was such a good time and I hope to go more! I may not be professional salsa dancer but I'll defy my dance teacher and show her I got the moves.

Yup thats me. Hahaha not really obviously....its a bit of a scandal. I definitely danced with some speciasl like this tho ha. I seriously had such a fun time! There were some chesters but totally worth it! Anyways, Happy Finals Week BYU students...cuz thats my life this week!! But really...everyone needs to try it out sometime in their life, they won't regret : )
